How to Read the Smart Water Meter Display Correctly
Modern life is becoming increasingly advanced, and daily necessities are growing more intelligent and user-friendly. Even the water meters used in every household have transformed from the old-fashioned type to the current smart water meters. They not only have more and comprehensive functions than before but are also more convenient to use.
However, while smart water meters are great, for some people, there are still minor imperfections and issues when using them.
This is especially true for some elderly people. They are used to using old-style water meters and are accustomed to reading the numbers one by one. The sudden switch to a smart meter, even with a display screen, can make using and reading it quite challenging.
Currently, the new types of smart water meters sold on the market are generally divided into two main categories: cumulative smart water meters and decrementing smart water meters. Some people are also used to calling these two types post-paid water meters and pre-paid water meters:
1. Cumulative Type:
The basic information shown on the display screen is consistent with the old-style water meters we frequently used in the past. The only change is the way the reading is displayed, which is through the display screen, and the addition of a remote data transmission function. Strictly speaking, it does not represent much innovation and is not sufficiently smart.
2. Decrementing Type:
This is the most advanced and convenient type of water meter on the market today, featuring multiple functions. It is also the water meter with the largest number of users and the biggest user base.
It allows for recharging via devices such as mobile phones or computers. This means we can easily pay the water bill simply by taking out our phone or logging into the computer whenever we remember.
In addition, it can automatically deduct fees and automatically shut off the water when the account balance is insufficient to pay, among other numerous functions and convenient uses.
3. The Display Screen:
The decrementing water meter has two parts from which information can be read: the pointer shows the cumulative water consumption recorded by the meter, while the display screen shows the remaining water volume at the current time (assuming the water bill has been paid) and the open/closed status of the internal valve.
4. Things to Note When Installing a Water Meter:
① Before officially installing the water meter, it is necessary to find a suitable installation location and the correct installation diameter in advance to avoid problems.
② When installing the water meter, you need to ensure that the meter face is upward and that it is installed horizontally.
③ Before installing the water meter, you need to check whether there is debris inside the pipeline. If so, it needs to be cleaned thoroughly, otherwise, it will cause difficulties in subsequent use.
④ The downstream straight pipe should preferably be installed at a position about 0.5 meters or more above the water meter.
